A building has successfully gone through the commissioning process when its equipment and systems have been examined and tested to perform as designed, and its operators have been trained to operate the systems and equipment properly. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory cites Hasl and Heinemeier’s “California Commissioning Guide: New Buildings” as an authoritative source. AEC recommends applying a rigorous commissioning process to the BIM as well as to the building for the same operational quality assurance reasons. Note the excellent advice in the cited source that eventual recommissioning should be anticipated in a well-done initial commissioning process.1
